Hi all, hope I’m in the right place. Please let me know if I’d be better off in another sub.
I am a court appointed special advocate (CASA) in Massachusetts. At the most recent hearing for the case I am on, the bio mother’s atty requested the judge consider a motion for adjudication at the next hearing. Neither the child’s atty nor DCF’s atty objected. The alternative to adjudication would be setting dates for trial for termination of parental rights (TPR).
There are currently no potential adoptive parents in place and no familial options. Bio father (unknown) will have rights terminated next hearing. Bio mother has made little to no progress on her parenting plan in over a year. The foster parents are willing to continue as foster parents, but cannot afford adoption due to the child’s medical circumstances.
In this circumstance, what would the adjudication outcome likely entail? What are the possible options the court has?
