Every time I scroll Instagram and other short-form content, I come across at least one video with a smug asshole who can flick cards in a mildly impressive way. Which, if that’s how you want to spend your time, fine. But I could count on zero fingers the number of fucks I give.
I’ve tried to watch these videos before, but I just do not care, and I always leave wanting to slap that shit-eating grin off the guy’s (and it’s usually a guy) stupid face. Like, why are you so fucking snarky? Congrats, you moved the card fast. Why are you acting like you’ve bested me in some kind of battle of wits?
So I just scroll past them now, but it still irritates me that I have to see them.

Now I am thinking of all of Gob’s performances in Arrested Development.
Those card trick guys act way too cocky for doing basic sleight of hand. The algorithm keeps showing them because people watch even when annoyed. You can block those accounts or tell the app you are not interested to see fewer of them.
Since you’ve “tried to watch these videos before” the algorithm keeps them in rotation for you. Even just watching half the video is enough to flag you as “interested”.
If you don’t want to see them, skip them instantly, don’t like, don’t comment, or respond to other comments on these kinds of videos. The algorithm will notice you aren’t engaging, and start cutting them out.
Engage more with the content you actually want to see, and build your feed.
