This is post is for my mom. Another dog owner at a dog park warned her about a man that now has four police reports about him brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot dogs (and owner) that approach his dog, at a very popular dog walking park. He lives very close to this park. He also is said to have PTSD.
With the specific woman that warned my mom, her dog had approached this man’s dog and he yelled at her, she leashed her dog, apologized, and backed away, and THEN took out his gun and threatened her and her dog saying he’d shoot them both if that happened again.
I’m in disbelief that this has been able to continue. Is there anything that I can help my mom do? I know my mom can stop going to this park, but she just says if she sees him she will leave. But what if she doesn’t see him. What if it’s another person that doesn’t know about this guy and he pops off on a dog and owner. I understand wanting to defend your beloved dog in extreme circumstances, but from what I’ve heard are extreme overreactions. Is there anything that can put restrictions on a mentally unstable man with a gun who has unreasonably threatened to use it? Any advice is welcome, thank you.
