Manager is forcing my coworker to quit and treating her like she’s on-call.

I work for a large beauty franchise that recently hired a seasonal receptionist. She’s explained to me that my manager denied her two day time off request and said she either needs to resign by the 30th or cancel her flight. When my coworker explained she has coverage for both days, our manager told her it’s not a coverage issue but that if another receptionist calls out, she needs to be available to cover them. There are no on-call positions at this job nor is she being compensated as such and she doesn’t know what to do. I highly doubt this is legal but is this something that can be reported to the BBB? HR is ridiculous inaccessible to us, the company is just a mess tbh. What can we do to hold management accountable for what seems to be a complete violation of employee rights?

What part of this do you think violates employee rights?

The BBB is a private company, they don’t have any regulatory power. There isn’t a legal issue here. You can be fired for going on vacation. It’s unfair, not aThere isn’t a legal issue here.
