Massachusetts Divorce Question

r/

Location: Massachusetts. Married in 2021. Seperated in 2017. We still took vacations together, spent holidays together, etc. We have no jointly owned property, no children. Shortly after the pandemic, she was diagnosed with an inflammatory muscle disease that causes muscle weakness. She’s lost her ability to walk, lift anything heavy, swallow, and speak. As there was concern she would choke, she has a feeding tube inserted in her stomach. She ended up selling her house to afford the skilled long-term nursing facility she’s in now. I love my wife and I visit her 2-3 times a week. She can only text and we wish each other Good Morning and Good Night every day. She has made her sister the health proxy and power of attorney. I want to divorce my wife, but I don’t want to hurt her. Married or divorced, I’d still do my best to help her. However, as it stands, we have no marriage. Is there a way to divorce her without her knowledge? I’m not cold-hearted, she’s my soulmate and I will continue to visit and help her as I’ve been doing all along, but I feel trapped. She’s 74 and I’m 66. I feel guilty and selfish considering her condition, but I also feel life is passing me by. Thank you for reading and for your understanding.
