I just don’t get it. Not everyone likes Mayonnaise or ketchup. Why the fuck do I have to ask them to take it off instead of everyone else having to ask to put it on? You know, like pretty much every other condiment? Cause even when I ask for them to take it off it’s not guaranteed they actually will. If it’s not a damn Big Mac or a specialty burger, why does it have preset toppings on it? If I ask for a hamburger, what I want is to be able to customize it to my liking. And if I don’t ask for anything on it, I don’t have to worry about my shit arriving from DOORDASH and it’s a mother fucking 90/10 Mayo to burger ratio sandwich abomination. Keep the Mayo on special items, but for the love of god can we stray away from the base sandwiches having shit that half the population doesn’t like?

More people like the condiments than not and it’s easier for the employees to default to them being on then having to read every single order coming in telling them to put it on.
I have to take pickles off. My mom has to take off onions. It’s not a big deal.
If you’d rather not then go to a more expensive burger place where the default it “nothing unless asked”
Foods are just made the way that most people like it. That’s just plain old free market thinking. You’re in the vast minority here, why should restaurants or businesses adapt themselves to a small minority instead of to a vast majority?
So a subway style system where you build your own meal but make that the norm so people can’t just ask for the number 3?
I hate mayo and I feel like I never had that problem, I’ll just ask for no sauce whatever the sauce is
You can customize it to your liking. You just have to actually ask.
I don’t like mayo either, but I think most people do like it on things. It’s the same thing with pickles – I personally can’t stand them, but most people do like them on burgers.
It makes much more sense to include them by default, and then some people have to ask for a burger without them; then to not include them and then most people have to ask to add them.
Truly unpopular, downvoted because more of a rant than an explanation
Because people who don’t know better won’t add it then won’t like the sandwich because it’s dry and lacks the flavor carrying ability of the mayonnaise.
Because of general opinion.
What you are suggesting is exactly the same as you ordering a burger and having to specify that you want the salad, the tomato, the cheese, the onion and the patty in it.
Sauce is liked by most people, thus it’s automatically put on with an option of removal.
When I die, slather my body with mayo and chuck me in the ground.
I like mayo based sauces, but find plain mayo vile
Hear me out. Hot fries with ketchup, Mayo and melted cheese mixed together. It’s fire I swear! Mayo needs a little heavy lifting on her own she’s not all that but with her friends? She’s that girl.
No one is holding a gun to your head to accept mayo as a condiment. The fact that it poses you of speaks to other issues.
The reason is defaulted to is because it is widely accepted as one of two more popular sandwich condiments (in some areas), the other being mustard.
I’m not a huge mustard fan myself. Where my wife is from, they put that shit on EVERYTHING. I simply ask for none or easy on it, depending on the application.
I think it’s unreasonable to get angry about it.
