My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. We had initially planned to hang out at my place today—make food, watch a movie, just the usual.
Earlier this morning during his morning run, he tripped and fell. It was truly bad, the scrape on his knee was large and deep, the blood kept on flowing down. I was only able to talk to him and stay updated through messages. I asked him how he was, and he said it hurt to walk so I urged him when he got home to get some rest.
A few minutes later he replied with “I can’t rest,
I have to go meet a friend to work on that project we have.” I was a bit taken aback by this. Firstly, because their project can be done online I don’t see why they need to meet up. Secondly, this “friend” he’s meeting up with—just the two of them, lets call her Peach. They are close friends to the point where I get left out when the three of us hang out.
Lastly, he would usually ask ME, to accompany and help him out with his school projects. But how come not now?
I had so many questions but he didn’t answer any of them and just proceeded to rub them off. As he and Peach went out my messages remained unanswered. It’s been 5 hours.
He had finally replied with “Sorry, I went to play basketball with my friends.”
He told me that he had already gone home but didn’t tell me about it because I was mad and he was going to play basketball anyway.
He had now gotten home. Again. The time that we had agreed to meet had already passed. I was waiting for him to at least tell me he wasn’t going to make it but he just kept on complaining about his knee, perhaps hoping that I would just forget about it. It was already nighttime.
In the end, I gave in and asked “Why didn’t you hang out with me today?” and as I was expecting he blamed it on his slightly injured knee.
He got mad that I still wanted him to come to my place, because he said it was already dark, it was late, he had school tomorrow, and his knee hurt.
He was able to walk and commute a longer distance just to see Peach, play basketball till dusk, but wasn’t able to see me?
TL;DR: My boyfriend (20M) and I (19F) had a date planned at my place today, but he cancelled, saying his knee hurt from an injury. Instead, he still went out to meet a close female friend for a project, then later played basketball with other friends, but never came to see me. I’m hurt because he made time and effort for others, despite the injury, but not for me.
