Medical malpractice Hospital subjected me to traumatic and unnecessary procedures. Is this legal?

r/

I was born with no vision and have used prosthetics all my life.
From ages 1 to 13 I went to an ocularist who tried to make my eyelids more open by highly increasing the size of my prosthetics every 6 months.
This made putting them in and removing them extremely painful for me. I threw up multiple times because of the pain andand both my parents had to hold me down. I would get eye infections monthly which we were told was normal. My eyelids were damaged from having them in and the hospital tried to fix it with surgery. The surgeon didn’t really know how to handle my case though so it ended up worse. My assigned eye doctor was completely on board with what was happening, saying the pain I experienced was on the same level as tightening braces and responding that I seemed happy during the procedure when my parents formally complained.
During meetings I was told to grow up and be less dramatic for complaining or wanting surgery and I would constantly hear about how unproblematic it was for all the other kids without eyes. To this day I’ve never experienced anything similar.
My new ocularist is completely different, my eyes look completely normal and everything’s done concentually and pain free. But is this really considered normal treatment? He’s still making eyes internationally to this day and I’ve never heard any complaints from anyone but us. Don’t really have the energy to sue or complain, I just need to know if there’s anything in place to prevent this.
