I’m a slow eater. If I stop eating to talk I won’t finish my meal because it gets cold and I feel full halfway to go. If I’m in a group I don’t say anything and still finish last. If it’s a date and I’m nervous it’s even worse.
Exception for meeting at home because of smaller portions and there’s time to talk while cooking and afterwards.

I agree. Talking and eating don’t mingle well.
I like it because it slows down my eating and I get fuller. Otherwise it’s gone in minutes and I’m hungry soon

Sounds like you just need some practice. When home, practice just going into full disgusting speedrun eat everything as fast you can mode, devour everything in sight, regardless of the scene you imagine you’re causing. Then in public the practice should translate into eating a bit faster.
Eat beforehand then order drink and fries.
