I 45M took my GF and her 2 kids to Six Flags last week. I haven’t been on a roller coaster in years or water rides. I got talked into going on the Iron Rattler because the GF daughter didn’t want to get on by herself and yes it scared the living hell out of me. However I did find myself embracing the inner child in me and started enjoying a lot rides. Do any you still enjoy getting on the rides?

It is like Viagra. You have to wait an hour for a 2 min ride.
Hell ya, I love rollercoasters
Just because we’re grown up, doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. My wife gets motion sick now on some rides so she picks and chooses carefully, but the kids still want a parent to ride with them. I swear I enjoy the rides more now than I ever did when I was younger and it’s fun to see my kids reactions
Im 40. But if I’m going somewhere or doing something I’m going to try and have a fun time. I’m riding roller coasters, going down water slides, if there’s music im dancing,
I enjoy the rides. Not as much now because I’ve ridden them so many times.
I guess the thrill is not gone but it’s fading away.
I always assumed I’m too big. I’d love to go to Cedar Point, but I’m 6’3” and 260 pounds. I’m betting I’m outside their limits lol
Every year since my divorce got underway in ‘14 I’ve taken my kids to Disney for a fun bonding weekend. They’re in their 20’s now, and although I’m not 60 yet, I can see it’s topsail over the horizon when it rises on a swell.
We all still look forward to it every year. It’s taken on more significance as they get their legs under them and their paths take them in different directions.
Hell yeah I go on all the rides. Every single one. We all do. And I love every moment.
Don’t let anyone tell you what kind of fun is appropriate for your age…do everything you can. Soon enough it will be out of your hands entirely.
I like rides. I don’t try to hit all of them anymore but I go on the ones I like and any that someone in my group suggests.
Got to take breaks. I love coasters. My stomach… not do much.
I mean in the UK theme parks aren’t really ‘themed’ like Disney Land and Universal. So you don’t have Diagon Alley in all its finest detail or anything like that so there’s absolutely zero reason to be there other than for the rides or for your kids to enjoy the rides and you damn well know if I’ve forced into buying a full price ticket I’m doing the rides.
I’m a rush junkie so I enjoy rides. Even more so on a moderate dose of mushrooms.
Why would I pay for it, wait in line for an hour and then not use the services provided? There are some rides I will humbly back out of, I know my limits, but if it looks fun, hell yeah I going for it.
Look deep into your soul and ask yourself why you think getting older means you can’t have fun. Adulthood = misery is not a healthy mentality.
I’m 38, took my kid(10) to meet up with my sister who was in California for work, we went to Disneyland for a week and it was a blast, seeing how much fun he had was definitely more fun then the rides but yeah I went on all of em with him.
Embrace that inner child, I also go back into mountain biking cause my kiddo was Interested and his friends wernt
I’ll get on any ride that won’t induce nausea (can’t handle the spinning ones).
Why would I go and not ride? That sounds like a complete nightmare lol
i like the rides, but i find as im older, i just cant handle them the same. its like i get a nauseated feeling. i dont even bother with spinny rides.
water slides, absolutely.
I can’t do any of the spinning rides anymore. But my kids just really want ice cream and cotton candy.
Honestly as a woman I am so over men who have forgotten how to have fun. If you can’t ride the roller coaster, if you’re embarrassed that I sing and dance in public, if you don’t want to play board games, if you’re too cool to be silly what even is the point
I get on anything that doesn’t spin. If I get on something that sins, that will be my last ride of the day because I’m gonna be sick for the next several hours.
They call ’em thrill rides for a reason. Hop on, scream your head off and have a good time. I’m not paying good money for a ticket to stare at the scenery
Roller coasters and the like are my jam. As are the classic mainstays like the ferris-wheel, bumper cars. The more thematic rides like Disney stuff is also good.
Spinning rides like teacups, the gravitron, etc are a hard pass now. I’ll feel sick for hours and it ruins my day. Found that out taking neices to the amusement park and thought I was going to hurl, or die, or both.
I’m not paying theme park prices to not be in theme.
I’ll ride everything but that fucking pirate ship. Scares the shit outa me
i loved rides as a kid, i get mad motion sickness now.
I’m going to enjoy all the rides I want to try. Nothing child or adult about it. I just want to have fun.
Oh man, I hadn’t been on the Iron Rattler since they changed it from wooden. It looked way tamer, until that first drop felt like it was going to throw me out! Kind of ruined the trip. Went back a year later and cured my fear of it. I was 60! I love coasters.
Hell yeah, one of the best days was when my older son decided that he liked rollercoasters, so we started hitting all of them at hershey.
I was a ride person until the rides started causing pain.
I hate rollercoasters and all that stuff. Major chicken when it comes to theme parks but I took the family to Tokyo a couple of years ago (2 adults, 2 teens) so ended up going on a whole heap of rollercoasters and rides I normally wouldn’t so my kids could enjoy their experience overseas (they love rides). I’ll admit I enjoyed it and there were still some rides I refused to go on but I’m in no rush to go back on them either
I hate that we think that because we’re grown men that we’re not supposed to enjoy life. If it makes you happy who fucking cares what anyone else thinks.
I love roller coasters. I’m riding ALL the roller coasters. Multiple times if possible.
It’s not worth the wait time in line. I took the AP Calculus club to an amusement park last year. The kids wanted me to go on rides with them but I do not have the patience to wait in an hour plus line for a rollercoaster.
I’m at an age where I just don’t feel like waiting in a line for most things. Rollercoaster, trendy food spots, traffic …. Fuck all that.
I love going on rides with my son and seeing the pure joy in his eyes, if I don’t go now I’ll forever miss doing it, he is growing up so so fast. ❤️
I’ll stop having fun on rides when they stop making them fun
My wife and her GF and I just wrapped up four days at Disney. We did ALL of the things, all of the rides, all of the princess this and Figment that. We’re all in our 40s and enjoyed every minute of it.
We even – as tradition would have it – got stuck on It’s A Small World…
Hell yeah I ride them all. Those places are too expensive not to.
I’m all about the rides: always!
Uh, I paid. Imma ride.
I don’t go on rides anymore since they give me vertigo. I black out and get sick after. I’d rather not go to a park at all.
Just turned 45 and I might be done with the exciting rides, I can do the 50mph go karts with the kids but we went on a spinning seat ride that went upside down I didn’t know weather to have a heart attack or puke.
I’ve been done for the last 30 years. Lol. I’m 60.
I still love getting on the rides but I do have to be careful not to overdo it due to my back issues. That said the pain the next day is soooo worth it.
I’m all over that shit. Water parks are even better.
52m here, when we are in a theme park I’m going on ALL THE RIDES.
Yeah, I go on them, it’s still fun.
Early 40’sM here… any chance I get!!!
It’s been quite a minute since I’ve gone to a theme park that had rides like that.
I’ve never been someone who is super into scary roller coasters, but I do enjoy them on occasion
The last time I went to Universal and Disney was about 10 years ago and I did have fun and went on some rides.
I developed vertigo after a really bad ear infection 20 or so years ago.
Amusement park rides fuck me up lmao.
I would go on them when my daughter was younger because I wanted her to experience good memories with me, but I would be dizzy for 24-48 hours after.
My daughter is grown now, so my roller coaster days are behind me.
I have a very difficult time cutting loose and allowing myself to be care free enough to enjoy many things. I do like rides though but typically enjoy them in silence. I don’t enjoy being in crowds for multiple reasons so I think this plays into it as well.
I don’t go on rides anymore. 43M. I am in a lot of pain at the end of the day when I do that. I stopped about 8 years ago and let my kids have all the fun. I’m just the ATM
Buy season passes every year to Valleyfair for the whole family. My daughter and I will go a dozen times at least and we ride all the rides.
I think I have more fun than my kids because I’m having too much fun to worry about looking “cool”. Also, gotta remember fun is contagious fellas!
There are some rides I won’t do – motion simulators tend to leave me feeling really sick, and I’m not a great fan of too much spinning – but last time we were at Six Flags I went and rode big roller coasters while wife and daughter did much tamer stuff.
That’s half the reason you have kids is to relive it all over again and it’s glorious
Rides are the reason. Everything else is a nice add-on, but rides are the reason.
Of course I go on the rides.
Hate the lines though. Fortunately daughter does too so we rarely go lol.
But I used to go on the boring rides with her when she was younger, damn right I’m going to enjoy the more fun rides she’s grown into.
You get to an age where any spinny stuff can literally ruin your entire day.
Assuming I’m physically able, I plan on riding rollercoasters into my 90’s. Just because we get older doesn’t mean we have to grow up.
How is the Iron Rattler? Last time I rode it was back when it was still all wood.
Yes
That sounds so wonderful. I’m sure the GF and the daughter liked that. Be a kid. Get scared. YOLO
Note: I had to change flair as I was 45-49. LOL
I used to love the roller coasters, and would always ride every one I could. Until my forties when they started hurting my back, especially the wooden ones.
I embrace my inner child every day!
Life is hard enough so just play and have fun man!
There’s a saying in Norwegian:
«If you take the boy out of the man, the man dies»
I hate rides, I don’t go on it.
I’m happy to be the guy that holds the bags or jackets or whatever.
Had back surgery. I miss the rides.
Wtf is this inner child shit? Having fun is not some fundamentally childish thing, nor are rollercoasters. Thrill seeking is not an activity that’s somehow metaphysically tied to age. This mentality is concerning, it’s a very emotionally stunted way of seeing the world.
