Obviously, this does not apply to everyone. So if your middle name is “Humphrey,” I am sincerely sorry. But in general it is something very nice and unique about a middle name. They are more reserved, more private, more mysterious. The question of “why is this your middle name?” Seems just so intriguing because they usually carry a deep meaning.

Do they?
How long before comments are locked?
laughs in “Marie”
Yo mama is cooler than general!
Deep meaning? Not really. I was given the same middle name my father had as his. He was given that middle name because it was the middle name HIS father had. And his father had that middle name because that was the middle name that HIS father had. So I also gave it to my son as his middle name and he, in turn, gave it to his sone as his middle name..
So 6 generations of us all share the same middle name because no one could think of anything original. 100% NOT deep.
I like Humphrey
My full name is Orthecroptric Fred Smith
There’s nothing really special about it, they’re usually just the parents’ second choice
Richard crew
My middle name is my mother’s, father’s name.
It potentially has more “nicknames” than my first name. I like it, it’s old-ish sounding and when spoken, with my last name, makes it seem like I’m German.
My middle name is meaningless – my mother told me she just liked the way it sounded, and it went well with my name.
Every woman in the 80s was
Elizabeth
Ann(e)
Marie
Lynn(e)
Lee
or Michelle
None of those are interesting. Elizabeth is stately at best.
My middle name came about because my mom liked Glenn Close at the time.
Thanks, mom. I hate it.
She got my first name from an 80s TV show, so at least there’s a theme, I guess.
My nephew has Herman
James is the male Marie. Literally dated 3 James’s.
I’m not named after anyone or any thing. I like it. Also my middle name is Nicole so.. very basic lol
Sadly both my first and middle names were picked out of a baby name book, have no meaning, and are extremely generic. Luckily, they aren’t terrible names.
I think that will really depend on your local traditions. Are middle names an inherited/family thing or are they place where the parents can have fun and the parents make good choices?
My three siblings all received middle names that connected to family and family friends. However I can tell you there is zero deeper meaning to my middle name other than it was the late 80s.
My “cool” middle name stands in painful juxtaposition to my extremely traditional, only seen on gravestones first name.
I was jealous of my siblings’ boring but meaningful middle names. I think that is much cooler.
My middle name is sooo boring. So is my first name really. I have the most boring bland combination of 90s white girl first and middle names, so much so that someone could probably guess them both on their first few tries without even much effort. My dad wanted to give me a really pretty and unique first name but my mom insisted I’d never be able to spell it. What can you do?🤷🏻♀️
My middle name is non existent. I love it.
This is so not true. Almost everybody I’ve known is insecure about there middle name.
Neither name has any meaning, i wouldn’t c9nsider either name cool, I’m not a big fan of either name.
My first name was too cool, which is probably why they never gave me a middle one.
My middle name is Ella after my great grandmother. My brother’s is Wilber because that’s my dad’s and grandpa’s middle name. My sister’s is Anne because I guess my parents didn’t care.
My middle name is “Peter”, even more generic than my first name. Maybe it depends on where you are from? I don’t know anyone who’s middle name carries a ‘deep meaning’.
I have 2 middle names. One is my grandmas name so that does have a meaning (Elaine). The other is the name my mum wanted to call me but my dad didn’t like it (Grace). Most people I know don’t have middle names with deep meaning
I don’t have a middle name. 🙁
Ime they’re usually just boring family names. Or Louise.
My middle name is Michelle. The literal meaning behind my being given that name is because my parents wanted to give a girl baby the middle name Marie like my mom and well, I came out second so they needed another M name.
