MIL said the other DIL was like a daughter to her in front of me. Thanks. Am I just some stranger then?

r/

This happened weeks ago, but it’s still something that always sits at the back of my mind and I had to share it here.

My in-laws are Greek and I am English. The other daughter-in-law is Greek also so I feel like I will never be able to match up.

I just can’t believe something like that was said in front of me, and directly to me. Tell me if I’m overreacting because I’m just like WTF?

I’ve been in the family now for 3 years, but she’s been in the family for about 7.

Honestly I feel like distancing. They have invited me to move in with them as well but I feel like just a lodger to them.
