I closed on a home in Seattle three weeks ago. The garage had some previous water marks and some areas heavily patched so today I removed some small pieces of the drywall to see behind.
There’s a ton of black colored mold seeping into the insulation.
The areas where there were patches indicate the owner must have known either about significant water damage and/or mold and tried to patch the damaged drywall.
Do I have any recourse? The inspection report did not catch any of this either. The signed disclosure did not include any “yes” or “unknown” related information.
What steps would you recommend I take. I’m obviously highly disappointed and distraught at a time when I should feel excited. Now I’m concerned to even be in the home. This could be many tens of thousands of dollars not to mention any potential health consequences.
