Location: Alabama My 17yr old daughter got pulled over for a move over violation. Officer said she failed to move into empty lane while he was out of vehicle conducting another traffic stop. Added that she almost hit a state trooper. The area is also under construction and has cones blocking the lane the police was in.
She is a good kid who was coming home from church, has had a 4.0+ gps her entire school career, and never causes trouble. She states she did change lanes appropriately because the cones directed her to even without the police presence.
My son was in the car too. The citation states she must appear in court. My question is, what is best way to handle this? No contest, not guilty? We have no dash cam or any proof of innocence other than her and my son’s testimony. Chat gpt suggested an online defensive driver course before the court appearance.
She was crying when she got home and is scared to have a tarnish on her license. Thank you in advance.

Without some of kind of proof it’s unlikely she gets out of this with a clean record. Hire an attorney for her.
