Went to see the new Mission Impossible today and actually had to sit though half a movie before I could watch the movie….
Movie Start Time (Listed On AMC’s Site) was at 6:10
ACTUAL Movie started at 6:46
Now look, I get that the theater/parent company has to profit *even more, but come on! I remember when you could expect the trailers to start at the movie start time, giving you about a 12-15 min window of buffer time if you needed. I do not believe that there needs to be 36 minutes of previews + whatever fucking awful “content” that the specific theater company produces to slot in before the previews. (You know what I am talking about, hopefully). This is just absurd! The entire theater slowly started to become in sync, with the echoed sighs and whispered “seriously?’s” during the final few ads before the film actually started. Just ridiculous and a harsh glimpse of how far we have descended, into this cesspool of capitalism and consumerism.

I dont think thats unpopular at all
For me i went to see the same movie and they made me wait an hour of commercials 💀ðŸ˜
I keep telling my wife we do not need to get there on time….. It’s absurd how much extra garbage is packed on
I had the same experience seeing thunderbolts. I sat down about 10 minutes before the time listed on my ticket and was sitting for about 40 minutes before the movie I paid to see actually started (enjoyed it, not complaining about the movie). Definitely had a moment where I realized I’d been sitting for a long long time before my movie began
Doesn’t even make sense why they do it w/ the industry hurting so bad…like start the shit within 15 minutes of the time you paid for…
I work at a theater and I hate how long it is. We don’t get to decide how many pre show or trailers a movie has at the theater level
Actually they do it in hopes you will finish your snacks and get more snacks
Most popular opinion I’ve ever seen.
This is not new. Â Free stuff to watch is good. It also allows you to be running late and not miss the beginning. Get over it.Â
23 fucking minutes at an AMC of pre-feature commercials and trailers.
Thank God for reserved seating,
so now I just buy the tickets first, show up 15 minutes after the posted “showtime”
This sub is literally just r/vent now.
