Letting a 12-year-old chat with AI unsupervised is risky. You need to step in, set boundaries and talk openly before things get out of control.
I would suggest that you bring this up with your parents.
It’s good that you’re interested in your sister’s welfare, but in my opinion your parents are the ones who should be monitoring your sister’s activities and setting limits.
I mean she definitely has lost all her phone privileges; she’s probably not going to have one till she’s like 18. But we are in the age of technology where any gadget is dangerous to any curious mind. I know at a certain age kids get really curious; how does you handle it without being overly strict or controlling
Kids aren’t built to handle tech that’s built to exploit them. It’s not just about screen time anymore, it’s about protecting their minds while they’re still figuring out who they are. You’re not overreacting. You’re showing up.
Well firstly, it isn’t up to you to deal with it, nor should you. Don’t ruin your sibling relationship by being a parent to her. You want to be the person she can confine in when she is too scared of getting scolded. In terms of the situation, it’s a tough one. It is very natural to be curious at that age, but there is a safety risk involved. Without further context on what kind of explicit content we are talking about, I would say to not shame her for it. Just explain to her gently what the risks are and how she might be safer around that stuff. To be honest it is unlikely that she will stop engaging explicitly, so the thing I would go for is to make sure she is doing it safely.
Make it seem like its always her best interest that you have no matter what. Dont out right parent her or “snitch” explain to her whats really happening is shes basically reading an “intractable pornographic novel”. These are new levels of fucked up these kids are going to get into its crazy to think about. Be her friend about it so she doesnt develop a fetish or worse get ai psychosis.
