My aunt passed a couple months ago and I was her beneficiary for both her 401k and life insurance. I went into her work and signed all the necessary paperwork like a week after she passed. The problem is the life insurance check came through but not her 401k. I’ve tried contacting her work multiple times and each time they transfer me to HR no one will pick up so I leave a message. I’ve had not only me calling numerous times but I also had our probate lawyer call for me and nothing. What exactly can I do? This doesn’t feel legal at all. It’s like a multimillion dollar big company that’s you’d know if you heard the name so I’m just confused on why they’re being so shady. My next step is gonna be to just walk in and make them talk to me but even then I feel like I’ll get turned away. I’m just at a loss on what to do and how to go about this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Get an attorney.
It may be worth it to hire a lawyer to step in.
Maybe check with the 401K manager about her 401K.
Many large companies use a third party to manage employees 401K accounts.
Your probate lawyer should be able to track down which company administers the 401k, and contact the company directly.
If it’s a large enough company, you might just be able to Google it.
If you know the company who was managing her 401(k) call them directly. Fidelity, Schwab, eTrade. She might have a monthly balance statement laying around.
When my dad died I didn’t deal with his job at all for the 401k, I went through the company he had the 401k with.
