The fact that he said ‘you’re a female and that’s not how it works’ tells you everything about his views on women. Run. Better to find out he’s controlling and traditional NOW rather than after the wedding. Consider this a blessing.
My fiancé had talked to his dad (ugh)… who said he wouldn’t come to our wedding if I didn’t take “his” family name… we had been living together for a bit so I hadn’t actually thought about it (because I had never really felt comfortable with the idea of getting married)… our whole conversation was me… “do you really want me to change my name?” … him “I don’t want the first thing I do as your equal partner is to take something away from you”…he asked if I wanted to keep my last name… I said yes… that was pretty much the discussion. That man works my absolute last nerve sometimes but he’s my person until the wheels fall off

Well, time to move on. Least he didn’t waste too much of your time
He cares more about owning you than loving you. He just spared you a life of pain. Go find someone who will love AND respect you.
Saved thousands on a divorce
It’s nice when the trash takes itself out.
Good.
That’s a brutal last name.
Good for him
Get a dog and name it after him.
I’m sorry that happened. I, myself, AEd, would have taken PhilV last name in a heartbeat, without question.
