Talk to an attorney.
How old is the son?
Do they have a relationship with him?
Do they have actual grounds to sue for custody?
I hope that you are serious about being the best dad that you can be, and I hope the plans going forward are sober & acting like every choice you make will affect him…. That said, make sure that you are able to keep him overnight, and do not relinquish that right.
In the end, their opinion doesn’t matter if you know in your heart that they are wrong in assessing their need for an intervention. Prove them wrong by demonstrating repeatedly over the long term how you’re committed to making better choices and that the boy is everything to you. If you do these things, you’ll retain your level of custody and get them out of your business.
