My Ex Left Me, Now He’s Using ChatGPT to Get Me Back (F21/M21)

r/

So I(F21) don’t know how to phrase this without sounding dramatic, but I just had a weird realization and needed to get it out somewhere.

Lately, I’ve been noticing how many people especially Gen Z are basically letting ChatGPT guide their lives. Like, not just study tips or resume help, but actual life decisions. People are literally consulting AI for how to respond to texts, how to win back an ex, how to emotionally handle breakups, what to say in arguments, etc. And I’m not judging that it’s kind of amazing and scary at the same time.

But here’s where it gets personal: I think my ex (M21) has been using ChatGPT to try to win me back.

Long story short, I’ve been going through it emotionally. This guy (my ex) left me when I was at one of my lowest points, and I’ve been trying to move on. Recently, he came back around dropping all these carefully crafted lines, saying things that are suspiciously well-worded and emotionally aware, stuff he never used to say or know how to express before. And then it hit me… I’ve asked ChatGPT for advice on him before. What if he’s doing the same?

Like, we’re both having this weird emotional chess match through a freaking AI.

And honestly… it kind of makes sense. I’ve read so many stories lately where people openly admit they use ChatGPT for relationship advice, even manipulation tactics (dark psychology stuff, mirroring, fake detachment, etc). And now I’m seeing those exact tactics in real life, being used on me. By someone who once ghosted me like I meant nothing.

I don’t know how to feel about this. It’s part sad, part fascinating. Are we even dealing with real emotions anymore, or is it just scripts written by AI at this point?

Anyway, just had to share this somewhere. Anyone else noticing this trend?

TL;DR: Realized my ex is using ChatGPT to try and win me back. I used it on him too. Gen Z might be letting AI run our entire emotional lives now.

South Park literally did an episode on this. It’s ridiculous that our reality can be described by a mix of South Park (not even ironically anymore) and the Simpsons.
