As title Said, we took our dog for a walk, and he sometimes tries eating things from the floor. We’re guessing that when he tried to eat something, my girlfriend bent down to take it out of his mouth, and dropped her phone without both of us noticing.
She noticed about 4 minutes later that she lost it but at that time someone took it and shut it down so we weren’t able to track it with any option we tried.
Not looking for help really, but for some cheering or relatable stories that would be interesting to read, instead of being sad🫶

One morning while I was taking out my garbage a guy asked if I had found a cell phone. Turns out his gf had lost it or had it stolen the night before, and the “find my phone” app led them to my address. 15 minutes later cops were banging on my door, trying to convince me to give up my rights so they could do a warrantless search of my property, all because an inaccurate piece of software suggested I was a petty criminal. I told them they were free to contact my landlord to do a search of the roof, but they weren’t stepping foot in my home unless they convinced a judge it was worth my time to steal a $200 3 year-old phone I couldn’t resell. They weren’t pleased, but I never heard about it again.
Losing your phone is like losing your connection to friends, family, business, health services, and social interactions. It kinda leaves you as though you lost a good friend or even your wallet.
Luckily, most users have their phone locked and have their data safe from prying eyes. Also, most owners have cloud backups of their device, which can make it easier to recover most of the data onto a replacement device.
Good luck
Don’t stolen phones get shut down nowadays and can’t be reused? Why steal phones anymore?
My daughter’s ear pods were stolen from a hotel room. She had not noticed right away and  They ended up in another country, so tracking not even helpful. She was however still able to disable them. So at least the thief could not use them.Â
Sorry her phone was stolen. It’s really hard hard to lose something so personal. Hopefully she had most of her information: photos backed up. The thief probably won’t ever be able to access any of it because they have to do a hard reset to use it without a passcode.Â
I don’t know how long ago you lost it, but it may have been a good civilian. You might want to check with local police to see if anyone turned it in.Â
That’s actually crazy… How tf would they like it if someone did that to them?
I don’t understand how someone can be so cruel as to steal someone’s phone. Jfc.
I hope it was password protected. You know you can remotely factory reset your phone remotely.
Sucks losing your phone. It would suck worse to lose your identity.
That sucks. I have a smaller story of loss. On vacation recently, I had one earbud in, but music was off because family was taking to me. I took off a shoulder bag to take a better portrait picture. We then left. About 300 feet away, I noticed I was missing my earbud. Went back and it was gone. It was a no name earbud that nobody else spoke likely be able to use or recharge. Not sure why someone took it.
Before the age of smartphones, I lost my mobile when I got out of my car. It fell in the gutter.
It was raining all night. The next morning, a decent guy called my girl friend from my wet phone and came to my house to give it back.
I love my modern pocket computers but these old things were robust.
