My gf has a 5 year old dog which she obviously loves. But lately it’s been kind of extreme.
I asked her that if she had to choose one to survive and the other one would die. (me or her dog) She would choose him over me. I dont think I can take this, my self-esteem cannot.
How do I approach this situation? Is there an actual way we can move on from this or is this the end of us? Do you have any advice how to approach her and understand her better?

Why would you even ask such an unfair hypothetical question in the first place?
If you’ve ever owned a dog you’d understand.
Best thing to do is suck it up and accept that you asked a stupid, adversarial, self-defeating question. These hypotheticals are meant to be treated as jokes. You, conversely, effectively asked your GF if she’d still love you if you were a worm and are upset she said “no.”
Don’t ask hypothetical questions where you’re obviously fishing for her tier list of who she loves most. It’s manipulative, it’s insecure, no one likes partners who do it, and it’s probably why she chose the dog.
Don’t ask stupid questions that you don’t want the answer to.
Also, assumedly, the dog was there first. You are the interloper here. ✌️

What a ridiculous game. Why even bring this gotcha hypothetical up? Sure she chooses the dog now but could choose you in the long run. She loves the dog and bf’s are typically temporary
