My mom died 12 years ago today. It still really sucks.

r/

12 years ago today I got a call while student teaching a bunch of 3rd graders. It was a few weeks before I graduated college. Found out that my mom was dead. She was 47.

It’s always sucked, I crack jokes because what can you do, but it still hurts. I had a daughter 6 years ago and I just know my mom would have loved to meet her. She’d be so proud of her grand daughter and all the things she’s able to do. It’s a bummer thinking about all the things I know she’d love to see my daughter do, but she won’t get to.

I guess that’s all. I’m not on much other social media, and I just want something out in the world that shows someone is thinking about her on the day she died. Thanks Reddit.

I miss you Mom.

My condolences 💐. If I may ask how did she die?

I’m so so sorry, my grandfather died before I was born and I still think about him regularly. My mom tells me he would’ve loved me, it’s the highest compliment among my cousins and I to be told that something we did was like him.

Same. My mom passed when I was 23. Now I’m 30 with two kids of my own and it still hurts 😪 I’m over it. Wishing you peace!

What’s your favorite memory of her? My thoughts go out to you and your family.

I lost my mom just this January. She was 71. It’s still fresh, but trying to pick up the pieces again. It still does suck indeed. I miss her.

I’m sorry. It’s about the same time since I lost my dad. It never gets easier, just further away.

Losing a loved one is never easy. I lived with my grandparents for almost 15 years before they passed. I lost my grandfather while in college in 2018. Got the call gramps was in the hospital and two weeks later he passed. My grandmother passed just a few years ago during covid.

I miss both of them so much because they were my only support in my life. I wish they were around still to see what I’ve become and to know what I have planned for my future.

Whether or not there is an afterlife like they believed in, if there is, I am sure they are smiling down on me and proud of me, though.

    Same here.

Mom passed when I was 20 and now I have a 3 year old and a fiance who never met my mom.
Getting married in 2 weeks and the one I miss the most is her

I’m here to support, not to hurt. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need to vent more, I’m here to listen. You don’t have to carry things alone.

My father died almost 15 years ago. I just passed by a photo of him today and stopped to really look at it. Damn he had such an infectious laugh. It comes through in this picture.

Hugs. I bet your mother would’ve doted on your daughter. My son was the apple of my dad’s eye.
