Met a friend online, they’re the SWEETEST person! Despite being online friends, they’re the bestest friend I could ever ask for! We text EVERY single day, talk otp, look at each other’s livestreams! I genuinely love their existence! I didn’t even know they had a job after we got to know each other. I guess my mother found out how much money they make from their job since they live in California (the cost of living is high.) She sees that I don’t have a job yet, transportation is limited, & on top of that I’m chronically ill so it’s kinda hard to get the right job. My friend sees that & sometimes helps me even when I don’t ask. (They have every right not to help me because it’s not their job to look after my life) Only money I have was from babysitting my sister’s daughter & I help my best friend financially sometimes too! My mother gets a check every month (due to personal circumstances) but all she does is spend it all then comes to me to lie about asking my friend for money. Telling me to lie about getting money for her cancer meds (she has leukemia but it’s treatable) telling me to lie about everything since they really like me. Even IM a bad person for going with it all those months! I stopped it all! Telling my mother off, of course, she was angry.

That sounds incredibly tough. Your friend clearly cares about you, and it’s great that you recognize and appreciate that. Setting boundaries with family, especially in situations like this, takes real courage. You did the right thing
