I live in a townhouse and my neighbor installed a security camera that has a clear view of my entire backyard including my patio where I like to sit and read. I can see the little red light blinking whenever I’m outside which makes me feel like I’m being watched constantly.
I asked him about it nicely and he said it’s for his own security but the angle definitely captures my yard too. He offered to show me the footage to prove he’s not recording me but that doesn’t really solve the problem of feeling surveilled in my own space. I looked up local laws but they’re confusing about what’s legal when it comes to neighbor’s cameras. Some sites say as long as he’s not recording inside my house it’s fine but others say I have a right to privacy in my backyard.
I don’t want to start a war with my neighbor over this but I also don’t want to feel like I can’t use my own outdoor space without being monitored. Is there anything I can legally do to make him redirect the camera? Location: Ontario

Sounds like an opportunity for a Natural barrier of trees 🌳 if there is space to do it.
Windsails, pretty privacy screens.
