My opinion on The Dark Knight’s Joker

r/

I’m sure I’ll get an obscene amount of shit for saying this but I think Ledger’s performance is highly overrated. There only reason people cream their pants over it is because of the “death halo” and the movie coming out and us seeing it after he was already dead. If he hadn’t died, he’d be another Jared Leto. There’s literally nothing about his acting that would be considered exceptional.
Now Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was amazing. Infinitely better than HL’s.

It is a performance that has been eroded by time when it was originally done it was a very unique and inspired take on the character that really hadn’t appeared before years of being in the cultural zeitgeist took away the original power of it and it’s original impact
Joaquin Phoenix portrayed a very mentally ill man very well he did not portray the joker well that movie feels like the script was already done and then they just put the joker on it as an afterthought
Jack Nicholson’s joker has aged incredibly well it’s very difficult to take his performance and focus on one or two things and turn them into a caricature like with ledger and it’s very unique specifically to the joker

The only thing you’re right about is leto was shit. And pheonix did an amazing job.
The rest if it, so far from right. Ledger was incredible

I didn’t even know he was dead and I still enjoyed it a lot lmao

Jared Leto was clowned on bc he was obv trying to mimic ledger’s style and did so in a worse / cringier way. when ledger did it, it was a unique and creative choice.

idt it was the greatest acting performance of all time or whatever but you’re looking at it through the wrong lens & not considering the context / time period when it came out

    yeah, no.

Either way Nolan Batman films aren’t really Batman movies. He is the world’s greatest detective but always gets outsmarted. Basically relies on his fighting skills and gadgets.

The Batman was a better interpretation.

Jesus. That’s an opinion so ass that it feels like you are making it just to try and win at this sub. And to be honest, you do win! Take my upvote, that’s wildly unpopular.

I feel it was a good performance but definitely got more hype due to his death.

There hasn’t been a real live action Joker since Jack Nickelson and I’m not talking about the acting or actor, but about the Joker himself.
The Joker isn’t someone who wears makeup when he’s The Joker, he only disguises himself when he’s not supposed to be The Joker and wants to blend in with the general public.
Apart from that, I really do not like the Batman universe with Joaquin Phoenix his Joker, it’s a good movie if it would be an unrelated-to-the-Batman-universe-movie and Phoenix his performance is really good but he’s not The Joker. It’s a clown in a suit with a huge chip on his shoulder and a mommy complex and wallows in self-pity. Great movie but not Batman’s Joker.
