We’re all student but me and my roommates have a house and can stay over the summer, my girlfriend lives a long way away from our uni town so during the summer we’ve planned for me to visit her then my family and then she visits me so we can see each other and spend times with our families.
My issue is my roommate I’ve tried having my girlfriend over before but she got uncomfortable and told me my girlfriend should leave (it’s not homophobia my roommate is gay too)
It’s been annoying living with this particular roommate as she never really likes me having people around even though our other two roommates could have their boyfriends stopping over for days and their friends around. I honestly don’t understand this double standard but my roommates tends to befriend my other roommates friends while their around and talks to my friends then complains their annoying after they leave.
I’m so frustrated with this roommate because she wasn’t even supposed to be living with me this year I was supposed to have my friends living with me but she left finding a place too late and told the landlord she changed her mind and stayed an extra year, I like having my friends around and being more social and especially having my girlfriend around it’s so annoying to tell people they can’t come around because my roommate doesn’t like having people over it’s like I’m living with my parents all over again and feels weirdly controlling
I’m planning on giving her notice telling her when my girlfriend will be stopping and I’m hoping this won’t be an issue since we’re having an extra person live with us over the summer which is uncomfortable for me tbh since I barely know her and their original plan was for her to be in my room before they found out I was staying the summer too. (They asked me after having a conversation together and tbh I wouldn’t have liked her in my room anyway since I have all my stuff in there and again barely know her)
I’m dreading the summer the house is going to be so cramped and if my roommate say their uncomfortable with my girlfriend again I’m just gonna have to say she has to get over it or something I don’t know what to do, she’s fine to live with most of the time she just gets on my nerves a lot when it comes to having other people over like we have straight men over (my roommates boyfriends) and they’re fine with that but somehow my girlfriend isn’t welcome even though they’ve met way more times then we ever met either of our other roommates boyfriends before they started stopping for days
And they’re isn’t even anywhere we can stay if she says she’s uncomfortable im so annoyed with her already because I know how it’s gonna go she’s gonna talk about how she gets uncomfortable but she’ll try and then complain for weeks about it and stay quiet while she’s here unless she messages me to tell me she’s uncomfortable but this time she al least can’t kick us out for it I guess
Sorry for the ramble I’m just so frustrated with the double standards and hoops I’m having to jump through just so I can spend time with my partner during the summer and just want this to stop being a cause of stress for me I shouldn’t have to ask to have my girlfriend over I should just be able to say “oh my girlfriend is coming over” and that be that
