My roommate just called me from work. He is a maintenance worker for a townhouse complex. His boss is a weird guy to say the least. They were going to spray a wasp nest with a mixture of soap and water.
The manager intentionally pointed the spray bottle at his face and sprayed him in the eyes with the solution. The kind of thing a 10 year old boy would do thinking its a joke. I told him to immediately document it and secretly try to record his manager admitting to doing it.
What options his options? Is this battery? Would it hold up in court?

Michigan is a two party consent state, so secretly recording would land him in hot water as well.
What he can do let his managers boss know and if no action is taken, he can go down to the police station and file a report for assult.
Your roomate can report the incident to the police.
If he needed medical attention then he can demand that the manager pay his medical bills, and sue for the amount of those bills if the manager refuses to pay. Otherwise there is no reason for a lawsuit.
If he wants to actually get the boss in hot water, he should should call HR and find out where their worker’s comp policy requires him to go for urgent care for on the job accidents. Urgent care will document whatever he says about the nature and cause of the accident. The boss is going to be left either claiming it was accidental spraying or that your roomie sprayed himself.
