my sister went ghost on me to not pay me back

to start off, my half sister was living with me since april, however she wasn’t on the lease. she asked to live with me because she wanted to leave her grandmas house. i said yes, and we agreed that she’d pay half the rent and id pay the rest of the utilities.

in may, she brings a dog without talking to me about it first, and i tell her that im afraid of the dog being here because im afraid of being evicted since he isnt on the lease. she tells me that she is going to move to a new apartment soon, so i have nothing to worry about.

in june, she says she already paid the deposit and would move out in a month.

as a month goes by, she is still here, so i assumed that she was going to stay a bit longer, so i expected her to pay her half of rent still. (which was my mistake, i should’ve never assumed). i also assumed because she is really bad at keeping her word and often says she will do things that she ends up not doing.

then, her dog licks minoxidil off of my face, so i rushed him to the ER, and it was $300, which came out of my rent savings, for the entire visit. and i tell her about it and she says she will pay me back the money for taking her dog to the vet a week later.
a week goes by and i still don’t get any money. she then tells me that she’s going to miami for a weekend, and that she willl pay me to watch her dog. she tells me she willl pay me for watching the dog and for the ER visit.

she leaves to miami for a week, and i watch her dog. im dumb for assuming she would pay me anything.

she comes back the monday of, and i ask her about the money. she says she will have it by the end of the week, so i wait. a week after, i asked her again about the money. she said “i totally forgot about the money” and says she will pay me by the end of the day.

after her trip to miami, she is just never at the house and is always gone for days at a time. she comes back and tells me that she was on dates with “tricks” (they word for sugar daddys). and the dog is always with me so i am basically his owner.

then the first of the month comes around, so i tell her that i paid half of the rent and she tells me that “remember i told you i was moving out” when she was supposed to had moved out like 3 weeks ago and i assumed she just forgot. but she says she will pay the remainder of the rent in return for watching her dog and taking him to the ER.

a couple days pass, now my rent is late. i ask her about it, and she says she will pay the rent plus the late fee tacked on to it.

the next day i get an email from my landlord saying that i had until the end of the day to pay back the money or id get a 3 day notice. so i texted her telling her what my landlord said and asked if she would have the money.

and i called her like 5 times but she wouldn’t answer.

then i texted her about it again a few hours later saying that i had until the end of the day or they would evict me, and i even offered to pay her my entire check on friday if she paid the rent just so that she would do it

she doesn’t respond to me the entire day, 6 messages later.

i then texting her asking her to get her belongings from my house in the morning since i knew that id recieve a 3 day notice.

then at around midnight i get a text in her instagram. she says that her “screen broke” but she saw the messages, and that she’d come get her belongings that very morning. basically ignoring EVERYTHING else in the messages that i sent her, like asking about where the money was. she tells me that she’s been “making the money”, but i checked her location and she was at the mall then at some random house.

then the next day, i am talking to my landlord, and i try to come up with a new deadline for the money, but he tells me that the leasing agents are tagging apartments at 1 PM.

i tell her and ask her about the money, but she doesn’t respond.

i then ask her little brother if she has talked to her recently, and he says yes, and that she has been hanging out with her friend all day, aswell as the day before. so she wasn’t even making the money.

i also talked to my sister about it, and she told me she has been posting on her finsta account, while she told me her phone was supposedly ‘broken’.

i am planning on taking the dog to the pound since she basically abandoned him with me.

what else do i do?

i just don’t understand how she goes on dates with men that literally give her thousands of dollars, goes on trips to Miami, yet couldn’t even pay me back or keep her word.

this was my fault for not having enough saved up. i just trusted that she would pay me back. i should’ve door dashed or something.

i’ve been crying all day about this. i got kicked out of my apartment because of this. and there isn’t much i can do because she wasn’t even on the lease. it feels like she knew this and played me because of it. i can’t believe i can’t trust my own sister. now i need to live off of my grandmas couch again until university starts. it feels like im back at square one.
