Hi everyone
I want to change my legal name; I have an ethnic male name that is often mispronounced as a female name in the US, and it is quite bothering me that everytime i have to explain/people act shocked that i’m not a female (lol).
i want to change to the phonetic pronunciation. the citation won’t change per se (last name is the same, first name letter is the same), but the first name would change. am i able to contact the journals to change my name on the online copies? and if i include my papers on my CV, do i have to explain the name change so that those who read don’t think i’m taking credit for someone else’s work?
thanks

Put the author list on your CV as “Lastname, F., Coauthor, M., …” (fairly standard anyway) and bold your name in each citation. If it’s just a change in spelling, I wouldn’t bother putting any explanation.
Some journals will let you change your name on the publication, some even have a standard form to do this, you’ll just have to search each one individually.
