Need some guidance on a career path.

r/

Hello,

I’m in my mid-30’s, Canadian, and am wanting to switch gears into the law enforcement / security field. I don’t want to be a police officer, but am looking into other fields such as:

  • special constable
  • parking enforcement officer
  • investigations (surveillance, corporate, legal, domestic)
  • Security

I understand in the investigative corporate and legal world it can be big money. I would even be open to opening my own firm one day.

I do have a college diploma in business, but am wondering, where to go from here?

I even thought about enlisting in the Canadian armed forces and branching a bit into this field.

I do want to be financially comfortable in life, especially when I retire at 65, if I can.

Thank you for any and all advice. I’m a bit lost career wise at the moment, but this field is what I was always interested in, back from out of high school, but was talked out of it. It’s time to hop in.

Without a law enforcement or military background your options are gonna be pretty limited in security. Mostly low paying rent a cop jobs that just need a warm body.
