Neighbor put up a camera pointing at my backyard and toddler—what can I do?

When we moved into our home last fall, we started having issues with one of our neighbors. He regularly sets off illegal fireworks, one even exploded in our yard, right where my 8-week-old daughter had just been lying. I calmly confronted him about it, and he got aggressive, basically saying he’s lived here longer and will do whatever he wants.

Because of all this, I installed a couple of security cameras, only aimed at my own property, for peace of mind. Shortly afterward, this same neighbor put up a single camera that’s pointed directly at our backyard, high enough up to see over my 6 ft privacy fence, where my now 1-year-old daughter plays (on nice days, in a bathing suit). It’s not aimed at his yard, driveway, or the street, just at our patio door and her water play area. I even made a paint diagram to illustrate it https://imgur.com/a/Nf8l0D4.

I reported the fireworks to the police and asked them to check on the camera. They confirmed my cameras are fine, but when they asked him, he claimed his isn’t aimed at our yard, and that was the end of it. But I have clear photos showing the lens is aimed directly at my glass patio door and daughter’s water table. It’s close enough that the lens is visible in the photo from my backyard.

Now, I feel like I can’t even use our backyard. I’m worried he may have videos stored of my toddler playing in a bathing suit, or worse, without clothes, as toddlers sometimes do when playing in water. I don’t know when he put the camera up or else I wouldn’t have let my daughter out there.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? What are my legal options here, or any advice in general?

It is legal for your neighbor to install a camera on his own property—even if it points at your property.
