So many Rock enthusiasts swear by Neil Young.They praise his musicianship and song writing ability, but have they ever thought that his voice is so nasal and high pitched that it’s just makes it impossible to enjoy the music and the lyrics.
Caveat: Neil Young’s voice when he played with CSN&Y very much made sense. He was the top harmony and CSN&Y was a lot of harmonizing. His vocals are for harmony only, to hear him on his own is nauseating.

Music is personal, i like his voice and music
i don’t think he’s that high pitched nor nasally, he sounds exactly like the music genre hes playing for and it works considerably well

I agree 100%, he is a terrible singer. Bob Dylan, Yoko Ono, Billie Eilish, and Bjork, the same problem, horrible voices, but very popular. No accounting for taste.
Vocals are very much subjective. He’s a great songwriter and lyricist, but if you don’t like his vocals yeah. There are better vocalists, but way shittier vocalists too.
I’ve met a lot of people who dislike a band simply because of vocals and they all seemed to also hype up bands/artists with cool vocals when the musicianship/songwriting was okay at best.

Yeah. I was a huge fan in college but can barely stand him now. I also have realized that he is kind of a whiny person too. He was a pain in the ass right from the start with respect to bandmates.

Many people said this about Bob Dylan as well. Many still might. Not everyone is going to love every singer or musician’s voice or style. I have always loved Paul Simon but I know people who can see nothing of value in his music. I can be happy knowing there are enough different artists to suit everyone’s tastes. It also makes me very happy knowing that there was only ever one Conway Twitty and there never will be another.
