New Jersey: Freelance client is demanding weird hours and hasn’t paid

Location: New Jersey.

So basically, my situation is a bit unique. I live abroad, not a US citizen, but I freelance for a company based in New Jersey. My client is in the field of education, if that matters.

Their contract states that I should be paid within 15 business days, and despite multiple reminders that I’ve sent them, they haven’t still paid my invoice that i sent late July, which was about $900. They also haven’t paid for other ones I’ve sent later, and are ignoring my messages.

On top of this, they’ve offered me extra work, said it was going to be compensated and it never was. The CEO has directly also told me, that since the semester has started, I need to be available until 6AM my time, throughout the night, and I cannot set my own schedule anymore.

I’m dropping this client immediately after I get paid, but how can I get the money I was promised? It feels unfair having wasted all of these hours and not get compensation.
