I like it, a little. But most people whom it really rung a bell are nearing 80 now. Yound and middle ages brazilians like things other than bossa nova. Sorry, it was for non brazilians. Cheers. Edit: why the downvote?
A good Brazilian friend of mine I hosted on a visit to Chile told me “Chilean music sounds sad to me even when it’s happy”. With a lot of Bossa Nova I feel kind of the opposite, strangely happy even when it’s very sad.
Rich people talking about their life as a paradise and their utopia about fucking young girls and the emptiness of the rich south zone carioca life. But with poetry!
Só gringo gosta, provavelmente só gringo vai falar bem, por isso ele pediu pra não brasileiros.
It’s very relaxing to me and I associate it with hot sunny weather (maybe beaches) and also my grandparents.
My grandparents were not Brazilian and had never been to Brazil but they played a lot of jazz, blues and a faux-bossa nova aka English language covers of bossa nova songs. The first ever version of “The Girl From Ipanema” I ever heard was the Frank Sinatra one.
Frank Sinatra was sort of a gateway to French ye-ye and Italian big band music. I sort of rediscovered Bossa-nova during Covid. That 1950s-1960s period of music appeals to me especially because I love cinema generation of Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren. Bossa nova goes with that glamour to me.
The Hitchcock movie “To Catch a Thief” is very bossa nova to me but was set in the south of France during summer
I think this is my favourite bossa nova song. I don’t understand the lyrics. It doesn’t sound happy or sad to me, more ironic and “sigh!” Or “oh well!”. At worst, a breakup without anger

Boring stuff that only rich people of South zone listen to
Nice upbeat
sounds like sexy time beach music
both relaxing and highly technical at the same time.
it’s music to play on weekends in sunny weather 👍🏼
I am brazillian, so I will say the reality:
