65-70.
At least 10 over.
I live in Texas, so 80mph minimum
In Arizona?
If the road is in-town 65.
If we are out of town in the desert it’s 70.
During the Human Malware Virus I was doing 85.
Like maybe 60. I’m in Ohio and don’t need a ticket.
Depends how fast the car I’m behind is doing.
Depends. Is it a place I like and a pretty drive?
Probably like 35.
Is there pussy and a place I’m trying to get at the other side of the trip? As fast as the road can safely be taken while also anticipating police.
I’m doing 63 staying mostly in the right lane unless I need to pass someone. Safely getting the Hell out of the way of anyone speeding.
Nice, cop-safe 59.
70-75 would be my speed. If we’re talking about the freeway with a 65 speed limit. 80-85 is my cruising speed.
Very early morning like between 4 am and 530am… Maybe 85 to 90, all police are hiding/sleeping
Other times….64, the penalty for up to 9mph over is significantly less than 10+
Like country highway, 2 lanes, maybe some hills and curves? 65-70.
Open freeway, 4 lanes, exit ramps and shit? 70-85 depending how well I know the area.
I drive a Subaru Outback, I’m going 60. 65 if I’m on a long roadtrip.
Depends exactly where, cruise control 5-8miles over in most cases.
55
50mph-55mph. Other people can get over it 🤷♂️
I’ve never understood why people have this insatiable need to drive fast.
65 cruise control.
85
Come back with a warrant.
70 to 75
How many lanes? Highway or a road with pedestrian traffic?
65
I go 7 over no matter what. 85? 92. 70? 77.
I don’t go any faster since I got pulled over for going 120 in a 55.
Edit: Been going 7 over since 2008.
As a non-american, 55 is for residential areas. Highways tend to be 100 km/h (62 mph) but most people go 115-120.
80-85
75
Depends on the road, usually 5-10 MPH over.
64 even. No one’s getting a ticket at 9 miles over.
I’m old, I’m white, I look fairly respectable, and I drive a nice vehicle, so depending on conditions the cruise control is somewhere between 64 and 69.
Well in 82 it was 97 when the state trooper clocked me. I was 16 and he was pissed.
My cruise control would be set to 54 officer. Why would you think I would do any different?
In my truck, 65ish. In my Camaro, 70-75 with a few 60-100 MPH pulls when it’s completely wide open
60-65
70, probably. But our definition of a few cars on the road is different. Therefore, my answer is not what you think it is. I pride myself in staying in my lane. If I pass people, I pass one person or three people. The point is, I switch lanes twice in about 10 minutes between doing it again. I don’t like switching back and forth and back and forth.
But, probably 70mph or so.
65
Truck 70, bike 100-120
Yes.
55 or over, and I’m driving 7-8 MPH over the speed limit. 50 and under, I’m driving 5-6 MPH over the speed limit.
60
Would need more info to give an accurate answer, but anywhere from 45-70. How is the weather and what time of day is it? Also, am I familiar with the that part of the highway, or is it my first time on this stretch?
If it’s 1am and there’s a thick fog with wet road conditions, 45. I might do the speed limit if I’m feeling comfortable.
Western Kansas on the way to Colorado, sunny skies, middle of the afternoon? Might do 90.
Open highway? 80 easy
55 and hitting the shoulder if you wanna pass. I’m in no rush.
At or below 70ish.
85-90
Maybe 5km over at most. I live in a place where there’s ice on the road 6 months of the year and there’s always half a dozen dumbasses spun out in a ditch on the drive to work everday because they thought their truck or SUV was impervious to ice.
Ill eat the extra 4 minutes it takes to get home alive.
im in Massachusetts. how fast does the car go?
64, never higher. 10 over is a new tier of traffic citation that costs more, always only 9 over
Likely 80 and possibly faster if I have a long drive or I want to take advantage of the rare open road
How many lanes? Weather and light conditions? Straight or twisty?
In my Subaru Forester it’d typically be 60-65, up to 75 if I’m in a hurry. It is not a fast or nimble car, it’s set up for soft roads more than highways, and there is a notable falloff in fuel economy over 55.
In my dear departed VW Passat diesel, it’d be 75 in average conditions up to 85 in ideal conditions. (And I’d still be getting 45mpg, though also spewing too much greenhouse gas.)
5-10 over, middle lane, cruising to some mid tempo music.
These comments are making me realize, maybe I’m the problem on the road 😰 but in reality, people pull 100mph in the rain here — but most people know, if the road is empty, stay modest, 85 max because state troopers are constantly on the shoulder
We have a big racing problem here because you can fly at 110mph for over 15 miles and keep going straight north into farm land where they won’t follow. Too many people have nothing to live for, the speed gives them reason, even if it’s a temporary thrill
Always 80.
Drive it like you stole it…
55ish, maybe more maybe less, depends on the vibe
60s, never 10mph over the limit. I grew out of the “i gotta be faster than everyone else phase”.
On the highway, definitely 100-105, but up to 110.
Not sure what it is in miles, but probably 130-140
62
Generally 10 over.
But if it’s the Baltimore beltway, 20 over.
175 mph. Fuck the police.
I would stick to the speed limit.
Right lane us usually 10 over.
Middle lane 70mph
Left lane 80+mph
Those are the speeds for the NJ Turnpike and Parkway. No traffic light on toll plazas.
Smaller highways, with traffic lights it much more civil.
Right lane speed limit or under. People getting on or off.
Middle 55<60mph
Left lane 75mph.
Whatever speed the flow of traffic indicates such that I am not a danger to myself or others as legally specified.
Major highway 70 (4-5 lanes)
Smaller highway that only does stretches of 55 – 65 (2 lanes)
Whatever the error rate on the speedometer is.
56 cuz I’m a rebel
55 or 60. No need to go faster. Even with no carbon the road. Accidents still happen. Getting somewhere a minute earlier isn’t worth it
My Bimmer settles in at about 80 mph that’s its comfort zone lol
Keeping it under 80
Whatever the other cars are doing, unless they’re going 55.
There’s a small stretch of I 15 through Arizona that runs through the Virgin River Gorge. Beautiful country, but the speed limit is 55. I drive that road nearly every day with cruise control set at 76.
I’m going whatever the speed limit is
Always stick to 10 over. Otherwise, with traffic. AZ/Chicago traffic is generally 20 over though, so it depends.
55 officer.
If you live in New Mexico, you can just accelerate all the way to where you’re going. It’s cool like that.
Depends on the highway. A lot of places cops can hide? 65-70. If it’s a two lane with guard rails, practically no shoulder, and no hiding spots? 85+ in short burst.
The key is to not be the fastest in your group of traffic. And do short burst when safe to do so.
Anywhere from 55-65
in states like indiana i’m doing 59-60, if kentucky i’ll keep up with traffic which is usually 65-80 depending on location.
55, using cruise control.
I remember physics class. Kinetic energy goes up proportional to the speed SQUARED. That also applies to braking distance! More energy in the system is more dangerous in an accident, higher speeds are harder to control and give you less time to correct, making accidents more likely. If the cops decide to pull someone over today, it’s more likely to be me the fewer other cars there are around. I’m not giving them that excuse. Saving a little time is not worth the risk of giving up all of my remaining life.
I’ll go over the limit briefly to pass and merge if traffic forces the issue, but I don’t mind staying in the slow lane most of the time.
Easily 90
80-90
Depends on how little im paying attention. It’s scary how driving for just two years has made me comfortable at high speeds
110
I drive 50. My broke ass pays for my own fuel and 50 is the most efficient for my car. Also, It’s dead middle of the legal range. Honestly, anything over 55 in the city and I drive the legal speed minimum. I don’t drive out of town but I do freeway driving in the city and I stay in the slow lane because I know it’s slow. By all means, feel free to pass me
I’m flooring it
70 would be a go to.
55-65. Not really any reason to go much faster.
64
70
Wife in the car? 55-60. Alone? I’m Batman
How fast is traffic going? Is the weather clear?
60 unless the flow of traffic is faster.
If I’m the fastest car around, my cruise is set at 64. If someone passes me going a little faster, I’m sticking with them. They are my speeding buddy.
~65, unless I see police in which case it’s ~60. I haven’t had police pull me over driving normally at 5 over on the highway. Traffic seems to prefer somewhere around 10 over normally, and that’s fine with me.
59 mph on cruise
I’m comfy with no more than 10% over. So 60 in a 55, 77 in a 70, etc.
Location dictates. Cali? I’m going to treat it like the autobahn. East coast? Probably only 5 over, 10 max if it’s daytime.
55
Funny how people try to validate their answer but fail to do so
It all depends where I am. Atlanta? Probably 75. Those 55 speed limits on i-285 are absurd, and no one actually follows it. I’ll still be in the slower half of traffic. Seattle? 60, maybe 65 if I’m feeling dangerous, but there’s probably enough traffic that I’ll slow down pretty soon. Cross country road trip? 55, within the error of my speed limit. I don’t need a ticket when I’m a thousand miles from home, and I’ve got all the time in the world. Unless it’s Texas. Then I’m doing 75, and some guy in a pickup is going to blow past me doing 90.
Driving past the Orange shop in Citra Florida off state road 301, way back in the early 2010s? Oh hell no. I’m doing 45 with my foot on the brake. I know that 25mph speed limit sign is coming up real fast, and you can walk past the cops that patrol there when you get gas. I ain’t getting a ticket today. I don’t plan on making a donation to your small town police station. No thanks.
80kmh and enable the L2 auto drive thingy
My job depends on the clean driver’s license, 59
I’m going 94. I live in Phoenix.
I go how fast the person in front of me is going, unless it’s outrageously slow. For a two lane 55mph highway in a rural area, I’ll probably be doing 65-70 if I can. That seems to be what everyone does around here. If I’m on a freeway in an urban area with more to pay attention to, I’d probably be keeping it around 60
