Anytime anyone says how things are or speaks the truth they get attacked for being negative. But look at the world. Be objective. In many cases, a negative or pessimistic viewpoint makes most sense. And especially when there’re patterns which indicate this. This attitude where anyone saying anything not overtly positive is in the wrong makes no sense and is bad for society. You just set people up to be hurt when things don’t go their way even when it was always obvious they weren’t going to. When someone ought to be prepared for or expecting the worst but is spurred into having baseless hope by people who default to optimism in every situation, the crash is way worse than when you knew it was coming and had time to fortify your psyche or prepare for whatever repercussions come with whatever outcome’s on the way.
EDIT: Meant for the titke to say “blind optimism” rather than just optimism, but the point remains

Counterpoint: I’m already aware of all the worst case scenarios. Choosing to believe that there’s a reasonable chance of the best case scenario keeps me much more sane than assuming that it’s always going to be the worst.
I agree. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. And to be prepared you have to be aware of the stakes in life.
You think that it’s unpopular to say that blind optimism is illogical? Come on now
but i want to be blindly optimistic…. after all, im already prepared for everything bad to happen.
