Out-of-state revocation caused my current restricted license to be suspended.

I got a DUI in TN last year, and was convicted in February 2025. Part of my plea bargain was that my home state (SC) would handle all driving privileges. I obtained an interlock-restricted license and completed all the steps I needed in the weeks following the conviction in order to maintain my ability to drive in SC.

Fast forward 2 months, and I get a notice from the DMV that my license is suspended again since I still have the revocation in TN. Mind you, this letter was dated 3/17 but I never saw it until 5/24. SCDMV told me to obtain a letter of clearance from TN, but TN cannot clear me until February 2026 apparently. They’re (TN DMV) also saying that I need to reinstate my license in TN, but I do not have a TN license. Just SC.

I know that if I was a TN resident, I would be able to get a route restricted license/hardship license during the suspension period. If I had been convicted in SC, I would be continuing on as normal with my restricted license. Since I am in some weird limbo state, all I get is to barely afford rent and pay out my ass for uber when I can’t coordinate rides to work.

I am also having to attend ADSAP soon, and currently don’t have the transportation (the public transit does not go the route I would need).
