Package Mixup

So the other day my wife was waiting for two packages from SHEIN, and when we got home we had two packages sitting on her car. She brought them in and started opening them but didn’t read the names. She realized the first package she opened wasn’t hers, and the second one was hers. She opened the bag but didn’t open or look further to see what was inside. It was the people across the street. I asked the neighbor next door and told them what happened because they were cleaning that house they own and rent it out and live across the street. And they said it was fine, put it on the mailbox. Probably 10 minutes later, my dogs are going crazy. My wife goes to check it out, and 2 women opened our gate and are standing in our gate walkway, asking why we stole stuff out of their package. They claimed the stuff that was in the bag was stuff they didn’t even order. Eventually, 2 more of them came over. They asked why we replaced it with different items, and we argued for about maybe 20 minutes about this. Towards the end, they said they were never accused us of stealing anything, even though multiple times they said why we took their stuff, and how why would we open a package that didn’t have our name on it. And I just kept telling them we didn’t steal anything that they need to take it up with SHEIN or someone else because yes, she did accidentally open it but she didn’t even look inside and didn’t exchange anything. It was an honest mistake. They kept yelling why she wouldn’t come out. I didn’t want to put her in that situation. There were four of them: one of me and she was crying. And she’s pregnant, so I didn’t want to stress her out. She did come out towards the end when they were calming down and not yelling, and the girls kept trying to argue. The mom said it must have been a mistake on SHEIN or Deliver End somehow and made them leave. My wife is worried they are going to make a police report and she’s going to get in trouble for something she didn’t do. Should we be concerned or is it something we should just forget about and move on from?
