Parents, do you actually feel guilty for having kids in today’s society?

A lot of people in my generation, including me most of the time, say “I don’t want to bring a kid into this shitty world.” We don’t want to watch our kids struggle through a system that works against them just because of our own selfish desires to simply have a child. And this is reflected in low birth rates and the average age of first time parents now. It’s hard to support yourself and make ends meet, let alone having to care for children.

However, this is all from people who aren’t actually parents, and actually haven’t felt any of the guilt or hardship they are avoiding. So I am curious to ask people who actually do and have had children, if such guilt actually exists? Do you feel worried for your children’s futures? Had you hoped the world was going to be better then it is now and are disappointed for them? Do you feel like they would have had better chances and lives if it was a different time period? Even like 10 years ago?

I hear how literacy rates have dropped and things like that. Teachers blame parents and parents blame teachers. But it can’t simply be true that everyone somehow doesn’t care if their kid learns and develops or not. Etc.
