Parents of children who played sports: How many ‘participation trophies’ do you have on your shelf? That’s something we never got as kids!

r/

I just added my 5 year old great-granddaughter’s 1st participation trophy for her playing soccer to the 3 generations of participantion trophies in my family collection. It’s #33. I’m running out of space.

I have a participation trophy from 1972. I used to display in my office ironically.

Don’t act like participation trophies are new. I got them in the 80s.

My kids got them, my generation did not.

Both are fine outcomes. Let kids be kids whatever the norms are at the moment.
