They say things like “money doesn’t bring happiness” or “we should live more simply,” but they say that from houses with heating, clean tap water, working internet, and public healthcare.
In the third world, it’s not about choosing a simpler life — it’s about surviving. It’s about working three jobs and still being broke. It’s about dreaming small because the system makes dreaming big feel like a joke.
They make documentaries about “the joy of poor communities” and go on “life-changing” trips to volunteer in slums — then fly back home to comfort and stability.
You can’t understand what it’s like to live where corruption is normal, education is a luxury, and your worth is measured by where you’re born, not who you are.
This isn’t hate. It’s just that the conversations about happiness, values, and life philosophy are often completely detached from the harsh reality that billions of people live every day.
And until you’ve lived it — not visited, not watched, but really lived it — you won’t get it.

Perspectives
So unless you understand how to live in a third world country, you don’t understand life? That’s your position?
Why? What about the reverse?
“You think you understand life, but you have no clue what it means to grow up in a first world country.”. That’s just as true, isn’t it?
If not, please explain specifically why.
Money doesn’t buy happiness is an extremely expensive attitude to maintain.
Not really an arguable point. Although plenty of people will claim since they have visited a place they understand the issues.
But their life isnt a third world country…
“People from first world countries have no clue what it means to grow up in the third world”
Why would they?
