Not every job has to be your passion. Some people just want stability, income, and peace of mind.
And that’s totally valid.
Why is that such a controversial idea nowadays?

I won’t turn my passions into a job. Because then it will feel like a job. And I want to keep loving my passions.
No one is acting like that
lol this is mainstream. People go to work because of bills and mortgage
I hate that attitude that just seeing my job as a paycheck is somehow wrong. I’m there for no other reason but the paycheck and the moment I don’t need to earn anymore money I will no longer be going to work at any kind of job
You wouldn’t believe how offended people randomly get when I tell them I only work to finance my off-work lifestyle. Americans are so weird about this.
Preach, man. My job pays my mortgage and supports my hobbies, and that is ALL
Only bosses and arse kissers have that attitude
It’s ok, but I think you’ve got to at least tolerate it. Going to be miserable if you’re burnt out and stressed out of your mind
Think about it. You are paid to do your work because other people can’t or don’t want to.
Just use your job as a way to enable other parts of your life which you enjoy
I don’t think people believe their job has to be their hobby. Only influencers say that crap. I do believe your job has to be something that you don’t despise though if you’re going to be doing it for so many hours a day.
Facts. Throughout most of human history people worked jobs they hated, many of them just straight up slaves lol. There’s nothing wrong with straight up grinding so long as you can manage it.
You certainly don’t have to, but speaking from experience, life is a thousand times better when you switch from a job you hate to a job you love. I loaded trucks for three years (hated it), went to trade school to become a BMET (biomedical equipment technician). Been a BMET for almost two years and I love it.
I don’t dread going to work every day. I don’t spend the hours of my shift checking the clock to see when I can go home. I actually enjoy the 8 hours a day I spend at work, rather than just the 8 before I go to bed.
if you are going to spend about half of you waking life doing something
your life will be better and more enjoyable if you at least like doing your job
if you spend 50% of your waking life miserable and then the other 50% happy if that works good for you
but it will always be better if you just enjoy the job and can enjoy most of your waking life
agreed. id just work a job for money to live. and i will be blatantly upfront about it.
я люблю деньги
Agree. Its better for everyone if you at least like it a little bit tho and more importantly are a good coworker.
I go to work and do my job to the best of my ability. When I am there they have 100% of my attention.
The second I clock out I don’t give a rats ass what happens. A meteor could land on the building and I wouldn’t give a shit.
Not sure this is unpopular. I say this all the time and no one’s pushes back yet.
lmao this is popular… i really wanted to go into non profit… specifically Africa as I did bunch of projects in hs doing charity for villages in hs…. yeaaaah that don’t pay shit n I work something totally different… put in the 40 maybe up 10 overtime a week… it pays for football n beer, trying new restaurants, traveling and my paintball n fishing hobby…. I’ll leave the company on hot coals if git better offer
I don’t think you have to love your job either. But if you want to be happy then you can’t hate the place you’re going to be 8 hours of the day, 5 days a week. From my college pizza delivery job to my white collar office job of today, I’ve always tried to place a priority on finding optimism and positivity in what I’m doing. I wasn’t always successful and some days are definitely crap, but that’s life. I hope everyone can find happiness in what they do.
Popular opinion. The majority of people don’t love their job.
Yeah, but do you want to be miserable every day or do you want to keep your sanity?
I’m pretty sure plenty of people know this, it’s just when you apply somewhere usually you can’t really just say you applied because you want and or need the money.
I think it’s more important to like the people around you and make the job as enjoyable for everyone as you can
Your job is where you go to earn the money to do what you enjoy.
The Millenials got it right to focus on a good work life balance, but then took it to far with the idea that they should be paid top dollar for jobs everyone wants and can do.
People need to stop thinking that it’s a necessity to love what you do. There’s nothing wrong doing a job just to have money. Finding a job you actually love is rare
I DON’T love my job.
My boss is a tool.
But there are things about it that could feel so satisfactory to complete well.
If I didn’t have to pacify a narcissist and his flying monkeys.
Because you’re supposed to be forcing yourself to work at 200% efficiency to make more money for the company owners. They basically figured out that using outside coercion has its limits and at some point you must effectively brainwash the employee into pushing themselves beyond their limits and accepting stuff like unpaid overtime.
My dad said find something you love 30% of the time, find ok 60% of the time and have to tolerate 10% of the time.
Every job has hard days but you want to enjoy it sometimes if you can although that can be a privilege some don’t have access to
Obviously it’s ideal to enjoy your job, but this idea that you gotta love your job to be successful is absolutely absurd and frankly cult-like. We’re not living to work someone else’s dream, we’re working to live and pursue our own
All the old people in my life act like I’m insane for believing this
