People who work out every day have no lives.

r/

Just had this intrusive thought when scrolling through IG. It’s not necessarily people who work out every day, it’s just how they post about it daily, and saying things like “making the most out of life”… are they really? I guess it’s a good thing that they’re working out… but it really makes no difference to anyone else’s life. Idk, the whole workout culture here in Los Angeles is just so dumb.

I workout anywhere between 10-20h per week, depending on where I am in my race calendar and I have to say.. true..

I never go out during the week unless it’s a special occasion and also during the weekend my interactions are limited.

But i like it, I want to be fast and runs/rides with friends count as social interactions.

Identity. It playes a big part in someones social and personal identity. Validation is required by so many more people nowadays & females & gays can get it in immediete abundance when online. It probably does more damage than good but if it keeps someone focused and driven to keep fit and healthy… it’s no real issue is it?

But…that’s their life? What if they have friends at the gym? People they hang out with and chat there? Also, they can do other things too. A few hours on Saturday then hang out with people in the evening.

Going to the gym is as much “having a life” as most other hobbies. Plus it’s extremely healthy so it’s one of the better ways. I wish I did it more.

There’s this one guy I know from a previous workplace who’s feed is nothing but him flexing his abs in front of the mirror in the bathroom of whatever public place he’s at.

He’s been doing this for over ten fucking years.

You know you can go to the gym in the morning before work every single day if you want and then have the evening free to make other things, right?

I’d say being stronger and healthier helps with making the most out of your life. It helps massively both physically and mentally 🙂

Lol. One of my gym mates was asking how we find time because he’s always working on his businesses, he’s building a home and he has a housewife. The truth is 1.5 hrs for someone without kids, without many responsibilities is not a lot when the returns are positive. Unless you wanna tell me you can go zip lining every evening.

I don’t know what do you mean about workout culture over there but i work out every day for years now and i don’t have social media

The true issues you mention are more related to social networks tho?

I mean I guess people who go to the urban gym everyday enjoy it and probably have a good time with their gym friends and all that. Seems like a good life to me.

    I disagree— and I workout 10-25 hours a week.

I also work full time. I am an artist also. I play Pokémon GO(level 50 trainer, so I am no casual! lol) and check this out— I have a wife(married over 14yrs) and an 8yo daughter. My family supports my working out and arts (lol they tolerate the Pokémon go stuff— but hey, I am also the one that does the yard work, laundry and takes care of the kitty litter!).

Oh, forgot to mention I am a homeowner as well!

Life is always about balance— and just because someone cares about working out, doesn’t mean they don’t have a life(whatever that means— because I can tell you as someone in my 40s, what I consider a life now was a lot different than in my 20s). Some may say that scrolling you do, May not be beneficial to you 🫣
