This sounds like you have a gripe with a few specific people rather than a general opinion

While I agree with you: not your circus, not you monkeys.

If their spouses are peeved by this, they need to act on it.

This is an opinion totally without context or nuance.

I haven’t really been hassled by many sober unemployed people before.

Are you trying to convince us or yourself🤔

If my spouse was constantly drunk and high on their days off and all they contributed to the household was a paycheck, that is not a flex. I can get my own paycheck, and if all you have to offer is money then there’s no point in creating a household with you 🤷‍♀️

Who are you to say who’s “better” than whom?

Are the sober unemployed people in the room with us now?

people drinking 2-6 beers every day should be seen as way worse than people who like to get wasted every other Saturday.

This is a popular opinion I don’t think anyone cares if your high or drunk on your days off as long as your not affecting the job

General opinion outside of your scenario, your employed people are overall a greater benefit to society, provided their drunkeness/getting stoned doesn’t have an impact on others. Further context, are those friend’s dealing with spouses who don’t contribute around the house and are letting the stay at home parent? There’s a lot of variables to this scenario that could make your opinion either extremely unpopular or popular depending on the situation.

What are they better at though?

What about people who work and pay their bills while high?

If someone is an addict it doesn’t matter if they work or not. Their addiction still impacts your life.

This is so weird to care about. You dont know their relationship dynamics

Yes, people who work are better than those who don’t.

I don’t believe people’s value comes from their job or lackthereof

What the actual fuck is this post

This screams more like you’re venting rather than expressing an actual unpopular opinion

My grandfather was a “functional alcoholic.” He was gainfully employed (during a time when it was much easier to keep a job). He would go to work in the morning, get plastered after, drive home drunk, and beat his kids. But hey, they only went to bed hungry sometimes.

Now, by the time I came around, he’d been sober for many, many years, made amends, and was a good man. But seriously, this post is just pure, willful ignorance, OP. Employment status is a terrible indicator of whether or not you’re a good person. Alcoholism and drug addiction can absolutely destroy people and their families.

I actually enjoy people who work and pay their bills and are sober on their days off.

You clearly just despise a few people on Facebook. This isn’t really generalizable since it completely depends on the context. Getting stoned occasionally? Probably fine. Constantly stoned when they are home and basically dead to the world? Might be a problem worth complaining about.

    Well this seems oddly specific
