Basically as the title says. I graduated with my BA Hons. in Law from a Canadian university in 2024. When I say I could not find a job, I could not find a job. Not even as a legal assistant (I have experience). I ended up working in social services and I do really enjoy it.
I have two offers right now. I got accepted to an MA in Law program at a Canadian university which is fully funded and offers me a TA position. I also got accepted to the same university but for a Bachelor of Social Work (I would do an MSW after). However, the BSW is not funded.
Problem is, if I do an MA in Law, I would go for the PhD route because there is nothing really you can do with an MA in Law and I refuse to work a desk job for the government. Does anyone have any insight on social science PhD employment outcomes? i’m just concerned at my ability to find a job after and I don’t want to be in the same position I am now (struggling to find work in my field) but at age 28/29.
Any insight is valued <3
