PhD vs DHSc?

r/

I am a practicing physical therapist (DPT), and am seeking advice on which academic doctorate to pursue. I plan to continue clinical care primarily, with a good blend of applied and theoretical research, and teaching in DPT programs and potentially other health science/exercise science courses at different levels.

How are we feeling about the DHSc vs PhD?

Pros/cons? Perceptions? Realities in practice?

I’m an OT with a PhD. I recommend PhD. The DHSc doesn’t have the same cache and recognizability in academia.
