So this whole ordeal started in 2024 because I got in a car accident where I was rear ended. I ended up going to physical therapy for 6 months after for my shattered ankle which now has 17 screws in it and paid the bill myself. Now almost two years later the physical therapy company keeps sending creditors after me. They claim I still owe over $230 per session even though the receipts from our transactions show each session was $100. They have admitted to this billing error 3 times over the years yet they still send the creditor hounds after me. The most egregious was last July when my credit score suddenly dropped by over 150 points and I began receiving daily calls from a new debt collection agency. Upon learning about this I again reached out to the billing department and after another long investigation I get this email:
“I heard back from the clinic with the agreement between you and them. We will adjust your account on our end. There was some miscommunication between them and us so I apologize for any inconvenience.”
Do I have any legal case here to make them stop making this mistake? Now that this has drastically affected my credit is there any way to resolve this and get my credit score back up?
