So I have two questions here concerning the world of Pokemon:
1, Is it possible to breed legendary Pokemons? Can there be multiple Mew(two)s, Articunos or Rayquazas?
I mean they all can be captured, so why not? Although it’d be pretty scary and confusing for everyone, I suppose.
2, My second question is similar to the first: so it’s possible to obtain most Pokemons, right? Including legendaries and other rarities like Deoxys.
So this means that there are a lot of trainers with incredibly powerful collections walking around in the world of Pokemon?
Plus trading and breeding is a thing, and there are many, many trainers in the world, constantly trying to be the very best, wanting to catch ’em all. If you can do it, then othets can do it too, right?

Generally speaking, legendary pokemon aren’t able to be bred in captivity. We know they do breed somehow, but no trainer has ever been able to replicate it. It could be supernatural in some way, or just far outside human understanding. Strictly speaking we don’t actually know how normal pokemon reproduction works either (no source clarifies, it’s just “we found this egg”).
(Besides, many legendaries are intelligent and capable of speech. That would get very very weird very fast.)
As for 2, legendaries are still rare in the broad scope of things and take some skill to catch. Game protagonists are relatively exceptional but we do have examples of non-protagonists with legendary Pokemon (some trainers in the anime, all the heads of Team Rainbow Rocket, Hop.) It’s probably not common for people to have legendaries but it is possible.
Yes and no. In the games Legendaries cannot breed and lore-wise many of them are magically born or created or scientifically made. However, in the anime we have seen that Lugia can breed. The thing with Legendaries is that they are supposed to be extremely rare and some are immortal. Many of them have legends about their creation and origins. It’s better to think of them as spirits, not regular animals.
Yes, Legendaries and Mythicals can be caught and the anime has shown what happens when trainers do. Tobias swept through the Sinnoh League with a team full of Legendaries and Mythicals and only had to use 2, his Darkrai soled the entire league except for Ash who forced Tobias to use his Latios. While this might seem unfair, keep in mind that Ash became the Alola Champion with a Mythicial and an Ultra Beast in his team, so this is completely allowed. This also doesn’t guarantee victory though. Darkrai was taken down by regular Pokemon and Ash beat Nolan’s Articuno and Brandon’s Regice, Regirock and Registeel in the Battle Frontier.
