Power of Attorney (Financials) for Grandfather being denied access to banking documents by other family member.

My Grandfather is 92 years old. He’s recently gone into a care home. Previously he lived by himself for around 6/7 years since my Grandma died. Last 6 month my Aunt moved in with him (mutual agreement since his care was becoming more urgent and she was struggling to pay her mortgage) which in hindsight was a big mistake.

Since going into care my Aunt has changed the locks and refused to get any more than one key cut. Now my Grandad has asked me to step in as PoA I need access to his bank account details which are all at his house which I’m denied access to. I’ve asked for bank account documents etc but still she refuses. I’m unsure what to do? I don’t want to upset my Grandad and get him involved if I can help. Is it a conversation with a solicitor or straight to the police?

She has an undiagnosed mental health issue. Extreme paranoia and susceptible to violent outburst. Chronic narcism and lying. Irrelevant but maybe worth a note.
